Individuals, 19 and older (subject to discretion of Medicaid managed care), who have a serious mental illness diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, or Schizophrenia. Secure setting is medically necessary i.e. there may be risk present of being harmful to self or to others, active symptomology requiring treatment, and/or need for 24-hour staffing

Referrals are typically made by inpatient hospitals, but can also be made by community placements, corrections, or outpatient providers; clients themselves or family members are encouraged to call for more information about how to be placed on the wait list
