SCOUTING PROGRAMS | BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, MID AMERICA COUNCIL

Cub Scouts year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade along with their families. Cub Scouting promotes education, character development, and positive self-esteem. Scouts attend weekly meetings, go on camping trips, race their own pinewood derby cars, and help throughout the community. The program promotes outings to local police or fire stations, museums, sporting events (where they learn good sportsmanship), and outdoor adventure.

Scouts BSA leadership and character development program for young men and women ages 11 through 18. With the support of adult leaders, Scouts learn self-confidence and develop personal values guided by the ideals found in Scouting. The program offers outdoor high-adventure through camping trips, long-distance hikes, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and more, which help build leadership and self-reliance skills. Scouts have the opportunity to learn about more than 130 different vocational and academic areas by earning Merit Badges. Some examples are American business, aviation, canoeing, communication, crime prevention, engineering, family life, geocaching, law, personal management, and space exploration.

Exploring work site-based career education program for young men and women ages 14 through 20. With the support of business and the community, Explorers develop social and leadership skills while gaining real-world career experience. This program is primarily offered in the Omaha metro and surrounding communities.

Venturing program for young men and women in high school and college designed to help them grow into responsible and caring adults through education and recreational experiences with an emphasis on high adventure and advanced leadership training.
