Iowa
An independent legislative office established to investigate citizens' complaints against most agencies of state and local government. After investigation and if the complaint is deemed to be justified, the office will attempt to rectify the matter. The ombudsman also provides information and referral services. This office does not give legal advice, and does not investigate complaints concerning the courts, the general assembly, the Governor or her personal staff, nor can it investigate complaints of employees of agencies regarding their employment relationship with the agency.
IOWA OFFICE OF OMBUDSMAN
Reviews complaints about Iowa local and state government as an independent factfinder, but does not have authority to review complaints about the Governor, the Legislature or the Courts.
