Provides several programs that may be able to assist families or individuals that find themselves homeless with no place to stay. Emergency Shelters may be provided through hotel vouchers when funding is available. Staff will work with the families/individuals to determine eligibility. Staff will provide case management and assist in locating housing that will meet the household's needs. Through HUD funding, C.E.F.S. can assist households with rent and supportive services while the household participates in case management. Case management will include budget counseling, goal setting, assessment of needs, and referrals.

Provides emergency financial assistance for low-income individuals and families in Macon County. Assistance covers basic needs such as rent, prescription payment costs, and emergency shelter vouchers for those who are homeless and needing a place to stay,

Also offers financial support for the following on a case-by-case basis water bills, state issued IDs and birth certificates, GED testing fees, gas for out-of-town doctor appointments, bus cards and tokens, diapers and baby formula, and assistance with work-related items.

Provides assessment and linkage for people who are HUD homeless. Administers funds for direct services through case managers at the local shelters. Helps in obtaining a birth certificate and ID cards for clients seeking a clearance card in order to stay at one of the local shelters. Can sometimes assist with relocations, bus tokens for medical appointments, and homeless verifications. Completes VI-SPDAT housing assessments with clients in order to add them to the Prioritization List.

Motel funds may be available to homeless families when no other emergency shelter can be found.

Provides a variety of resources to help individuals struggling with or living in homelessness, access healthy food and warmth during cold weather, and essential hygiene and safety supplies. Supplies provided include food, emergency funds to go towards emergency lodging, sleeping bags and mats, and survival backpacks when available.

Salvation Army may be able to provide assistance with emergency food or shelter (vouchers); can provide a voucher for one night in a motel and one meal for parents with minor children in an emergency situation.

During that time, the family is required to work toward stabilizing their family and look for a more permanent place to stay. The Emergency/Transitional Housing Grant through the Illinois Department of Human Services provides for the cost of shelter and some meals.

In Adams County, clients must have a referral from the Salvation Army. Participants are required to do job searches each week and participate in weekly Job Clubs with the goal to transition into permanent housing.

Salvation Army may be able to assist with emergency food, fuel, shelter (vouchers). Some units may provide "Christmas Cheer", aid to disaster victims, prescription expense assistance, aid for health needs, and assistance with utility bills (including heating fuel, water, gas, telephone, and electric bills). There may be some transportation in the form of gas vouchers for automobiles may be provided (must have person at destination who can be contacted to confirm).
