Cross Outreach is a homelessness prevention program offering limited assistance with basic needs for households in transition, subject to available funding. Services include help with rent, security deposits, electric or water bills, laundry vouchers, storage costs, and support for moving-related needs. While assistance with car gas is not provided, the program also offers resources to help individuals maintain clean and sanitary living environments.

***Rent, security deposits, electric, water and laundry voucher assistance requires clients to email a help request on the 3rd Monday of every month between 8 am-8 pm.

2026 Intake Dates are always on the 3rd Monday of each month, 8 am-8 pm.

Offers a food pantry.

When funds are available, also offers:

- Financial assistance for rent and utility bills.

- Vouchers for food and the thrift store.

- Laundry tokens.

- Emergency shelter voucher for the local motel (for one night only); maximum of once per year.

- Assistance with clothing and household items.

- Gas vouchers for medical appointments and stranded individuals in Kearney.

Offers the following vouchers to be used at the Salvation Army Thrift Store:

- Clothing.

- Furniture.

- Household items.

- Personal hygiene products.

- Other items as available.

Provides food directly to people in an emergency situation.

Offers a free laundry service once a month for anyone who comes to a local laundromat. Provides washer pods, dryer sheets and the quarters for the machines.

Offers Free Treasurers events twice a year, in the spring and fall, providing furniture, household items, clothing, and appliances on a first-come, first-served basis. Available items depend on donations and current inventory. There is no limit to the number of items that can be taken, and plastic bags are provided for carrying items..

Offers vouchers for food, clothing, and household items. Vouchers can be exchanged at the thrift store.

Offers emergency assistance, including help with rent and utility bills, prescriptions, and transportation expenses. Provides personal hygiene and baby supplies, such as diapers and formula. Offers thrift store vouchers for clothing and household supplies.

Provides fans during the summer to eligible households.

Offers cleaning supplies that are available at no charge to those in need. Clients in need of transportation to pick up the supplies can contact Jo Daviess County Transit for further information.

Expanded Parenting Program helps expecting mothers and parents with children up to 12 months with resources like diapers, education materials on parenting/breastfeeding, and consumer choice of other essential items.

Individuals and families can access resources once every 30 days for a supplementary food pantry, fresh food, toiletries, diapers, clothing, household goods, furniture, appliances, and other gently used items.

Operates the Lost But Found Thrift Store, open to the public.

Offers the Foster Closet assistance program for foster families in the Four-County Area (Lyon, Sioux, O'Brien, and Osceola). Families will receive an initial $20.00 voucher per child to use at the thrift store. The families also receive 50% off any additional items during their initial visit to the store.

- Any additional dates or discounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.

- ATLAS may be able to provide a "personal shopper" experience based on certain time limitation considerations.

- Items such as hygiene supplies, food, and blankets (among other necessity items) may be provided for free depending on the availability of the items.

Provides furniture, food, household goods, and appliances to newly-housed veterans.

Provides a voucher for those in need of clothing, furniture and/or household goods to be used at the Trinkets and Togs thrift store.

Individuals in need can receive a furniture voucher to Central Illinois Christians in Mission. Vouchers available once a year.

Provides individuals with supplies such as car seats, cribs, diapers, and formula.

Provides various items and assistance to those in need including:

- Furniture (dressers & shelves, tables, chairs, dining sets)
- Beds
- Bedding & linens
- Clothing
- Bicycles
- Toiletries
