Expanded Parenting Program helps expecting mothers and parents with children up to 12 months with resources like diapers, education materials on parenting/breastfeeding, & consumer choice of other essential items.

Salvation Army provides a variety of assistance for low-income individuals and families facing crisis situations including assisted with clothing, food (vouchers), furniture, and some household items. Personal items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, diapers, etc. may be available. Funds may be available for assistance with heating bills including gas, electricity, wood, fuel oil, propane; also in some cases disconnection bills.

Offers Free Treasurers once in the spring and once in the fall. Furniture, household items and clothing are available on a first come, first serve basis. No limit to items that can be taken. Plastic bags are offered to anyone that needs one to carry items in.

Carol's Closet can help veterans, seniors, and persons with disabilities with household items including furniture and bedding, hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs (including motorized), shower chairs, commodes and adult hygiene items. In addition, Carol's Closet can help families with newborn baby clothes to size 6 children's clothes, diapers, new cribs and car seats, baby essentials, and household items including dishes, furniture and bedding. Carol's Closet also has a handicap accessible van and standing lift for loan with a donation. Carol's Closet accepts donations of good and has opportunities for people to volunteer.

Offers a pack and play for any new mother who calls and states she cannot take her child home from the hospital until she has a place for the baby to sleep.

Purchases new beds for McHenry County residents who are transitioning from a homeless situation in McHenry County into a permanent residence that is also located in McHenry County. Please note that this program has very limited funding.

Offers household goods and furniture vouchers for items such as household goods, air mattresses (single and queens ), kitchen/dinning room tables (to meet family size), couches, living room chairs, and lamps if there is no other overhead lighting in unit. Dressers, TV, TV stands, curtains, kitchen appliances, mattresses and bed frames are never offered through vouchers.

The thrift store has clothing (infant to adult), kitchen and household items, furniture, home décor, books, toys and baby items; availability of items depends on what has been donated. Donations are accepted during store hours; appliances, tires, computers and televisions are not accepted. Everything But The Baby is a consignment store within the thrift shop.
