The Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness program provides case management which assists at-risk and/or abused persons. Services include a confidential referral and intake process, ongoing assessment of the situation and risks, development of intervention plans to reduce identified risks, and continued follow-up until it is agreed that the services are no longer needed.

Juvenile Court Services offers intake, probation services, Restorative Justice Program, in-home and out of home placement services for those under the jurisdiction of Juvenile Court Services. (The Adel office covers Dallas and Guthrie counties. Other offices located in Winterset and Creston supervised from the Adel Office.)

Provides free and confidential support to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and homicide or other violent crimes. Advocates meet with clients where the client is in Boone, Greene, Marshall, Story, and Tama counties. A 24-hour crisis hotline and shelter for victims of domestic violence are also available.

Housing Access offers a multitude of services and programs to assist survivors in gaining permanent housing.

Offers to serve men and women who have been abusive in relationships. Groups are educational, and run for 26 weeks. Emphasis is on changing beliefs that lead to violence, using tools to reduce impulsivity, and developing accountability for choices that lead to violence. Men's and women's groups are separate.

Nurturing Parenting Group - 12 week program designed to teach parents the philosophy and practices of nurturing parenting and raising healthy caring children. Sliding scale available. Open to anyone who wants to join. Meets on Mondays, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Can join anytime during the 12 weeks.

Offers a sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

Offered to individuals (men/women) who are convicted of Domestic Abuse Assault within the Sixth Judicial District. Programming includes an intake/orientation session followed by group attendance. There is an alternative program for people with severe mental disorders, medical concerns, or other uncommon factors which require individualized services. Those appropriate for this group include: Court ordered clients, referrals from DHS and those who volunteer.

Provides a specialized residential treatment program for delinquent adolescents in response to serious anti-social behavior. Referred youth may be victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, emotionally disturbed, behavioral disorder, runaways, homeless, alleged delinquents who do not require a secure setting or any youth in similar crisis situations that may place them at risk.

The five strategic directions for Buffalo County include High Impact Prevention Services (decrease substance and alcohol misuse, increase number of adults reporting Alzheimer's and dementia), Eliminate Health Disparities (increase number of adults with health insurance and decrease barriers to health care), Healthy Eating and Active Living (increase physical activity, decrease BMI, increase consumption of fruits and vegetables), Injury-Free Living (increase reporting of child abuse and domestic assault, decrease suicide ideation and attempts), and Healthy Homes and Sustainable Communities (increase home ownership and number of quality rentals). Temporary emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and accompanying children. Emergency needs such as food and clothing can be provided while in shelter, if needed.24 hour crisis line provides support, info and confidential emergency services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Client advocacy is available to help support individuals through crisis, such as assistance in applying for Department of Health and Human Services economic assistance programs, finding a new place to live, or for emotional support and talking through options.

Legal advocacy provides assistance with filing domestic violence and harassment protection orders, legal referrals, help in finding legal representation, and court accompaniment.

Medical advocacy offers referrals and accompaniment as needed.

Bilingual advocacy provides immigration information for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. To reach a Spanish-speaking advocate, contact the Spanish line or stop in at the Crete office to speak with a Spanish-speaking advocate.

Information and referrals provided regarding assistance outside of Hope Crisis Center.

Community education programs offered free of charge on topics such as: domestic violence, sexual assault, bullying, good touch/bad touch/secret touch, teen dating violence, date rape, violence in the media, sexting, domestic violence and the effects on children, sexual assault and the effect on children, and others.
