Protection order assistance, criminal justice/legal advocacy, and medical advocacy are also available to those who may need it.

Support group for victims of domestic violence. Open to anyone who is experiencing or has experienced abuse in an intimate relationship, including individuals who are still involved in the abusive relationship. Transportation available.

Assists anyone who is experiencing or has experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking. Operates a 24/7 crisis hotline to assist in a crisis. Also offers an inclusive, safe, and welcoming space where survivors can access a range of services in one location, including crisis intervention and long-term supportive care.

- ADVOCACY: Skilled guidance in the aftermath of a crisis to aid in safety planning, assessing immediate needs, identifying

resources, and navigating the various systems survivors may encounter.

- SELF-SUFFICIENCY: Specialized case management to assist with planning, monitoring, and achieving goals leading to independence, empowerment, and safety.

- HOUSING: Support locating emergency housing for immediate safety and relocation to permanent, stable housing.

- LEGAL: Professional advice and assistance with legal matters related to a survivor's experience of abuse.

- CLINICAL: Crisis counseling, direct therapeutic assistance, and support in processing emotions and experiences in the aftermath of a crisis.

- PEER SUPPORT: Facilitated group dialogue for exploring experiences, receiving support, and working through the stigma of victimization among peers.

Offers community education on issues relevant to domestic violence and teen dating violence. Staff members are available to speak to civic and government organizations, college and high school classes, and in a variety of other settings.

ABUSE AND CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES | CRISIS INTERVENTION & ADVOCACY CENTER

Offers comprehensive services to support individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and homelessness. Services include crisis intervention counseling, legal, medical, and personal advocacy, safe shelter, safety planning, transitional and emergency housing, and community education and outreach.

Specialized programs address domestic violence intervention, helping offenders understand and take responsibility for their actions, develop healthy relationships, and learn conflict resolution and stress management skills.

Advocacy is provided with landlords, schools, employers, and other professionals to secure rights, prevent eviction or utility shut-offs, and ensure safety.

Child-focused initiatives include sexual assault prevention programs that educate children about personal boundaries, recognizing inappropriate behavior, and seeking help, as well as support groups for individuals affected by child abuse, offering emotional support, resources, and information. CIAC staff and volunteers travel to meet victims to accommodate their needs. All services are free, voluntary, confidential, and available to all without discrimination.

OPTIONS PROGRAM | COGNITION WORKS INC.

Offers a 24-week program for women who have been identified as a survivor/victim of intimate partner violence. Group members learn about the nature of abuse as well the impact of domestic violence on children and families. This group is currently offered online via Zoom.

Offers to serve men and women who have been abusive in relationships. Groups are educational, and run for 26 weeks. Emphasis is on changing beliefs that lead to violence, using tools to reduce impulsivity, and developing accountability for choices that lead to violence. Men's and women's groups are separate.

Nurturing Parenting Group - 12 week program designed to teach parents the philosophy and practices of nurturing parenting and raising healthy caring children. Sliding scale available. Open to anyone who wants to join. Meets on Mondays, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Can join anytime during the 12 weeks.

Provides a 24-week domestic abusers education program.

-- For men in Waterloo, the intake/orientations are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 4 pm and the 3rd Friday of the month at 9 am. If the intake session falls on a holiday, it is held at the same time in the following week. Located at Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility.

-- For women in Waterloo, the intake/orientations are held the 1st Monday of the month at 3 pm. If the intake session falls on a holiday, it is held the same time the following week. Located at Women's Center for Change.
