Lawyer referral service for buying and selling real estate, civil rights, consumer problems, contracts, credit problems, local criminal and bankruptcy, divorce, employment problems, family problems, and wills, etc.

Provides legal assistance to individuals with legal issues such as federal criminal defense, basic estate planning, limited immigration advocacy, community empowerment, as well as civil and employment litigation.
Referral service for claimants refers callers to private attorneys in their area who handle Social Security disability claims.
Refers persons to private practicing attorneys in their area for the type of legal problem they have. Attorneys are not legal aid, low income, or pro bono. The free referral entitles the caller to a 30-minute consultation either on the phone or in the attorney's office for a fee of no more than $25, with no obligation. After the consultation, the attorney will charge the client regular fees - it is up to the client to discuss fees with the attorney.

Offers an online legal resource specifically for military families. The site provides a directory of programs that can help find legal services and representation in or around the current community the military family lives in.

Website allows members of the public to search for a lawyer by county and/or practice area.

Services provided to the public include:

- Ask a Lawyer Day: Free phone consultation with a volunteer attorney.

- Kane County Law Library and Self Help Legal Center: Attorneys provide volunteer consultation services, including divorce and family law help.

- Lawyer and legal agency referral services.

- Lawyer in the Lobby program at the 3rd Street Courthouse every Friday for civil matters such as landlord/tenant disputes, eviction cases, foreclosures, name changes, small claims, estates/wills, and guardianships.

Offers an online Find a Lawyer program, Living Will forms, and the Handbook for Older Iowans, which covers health care decisions, wills, power of attorney, and landlord tenant rights. The handbook is available at no cost through the bar association, or at www.iowabar.org.
