SCHOLARSHIPS | EMPOWERMENT OPPORTUNITY CENTER

Provides scholarships to assist CSBG eligible low-income undergraduate students with tuition costs. Students must be undergraduates, residents of Macon County, and attend an accredited school in Illinois. Applications are usually taken in June for the Fall semester. If possible, scholarships are distributed early, so the funds can be used to cover the initial cost of tuition that must be paid by the student before school starts.

Provides scholarships to children who reside in Johnson County, Iowa and who will be 0-5 by September 15, 2024 but will not be entering kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year. Provides funding for tuition, books, and fees for students attending full or part-time anywhere in the United States. Funding is need based. GPA requirement is 2.0. Graduate and post-graduate support is considered for full or part-time students for a maximum of four semesters, and the GPA requirement must be met as specified by the program of study.

Offers assistance to help individuals purchase necessary uniforms and supplies for verified employment. Assistance may also be provided for test fees for licenses or vocational certifications.

GED test fees may also be paid for individuals entering the workforce or increasing their earning potential. Assistance up to $150 is available with verified employment needs. This program will be available until funds are exhausted.

Upon approval, items will be ordered and delivered to the SCCR office for pick up or test fees will be paid directly to the vendor. No payments will be made directly to the client.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM | PROJECT NOW, INC.

Recipients are awarded up to $500 to pursue formal education or occupational training at an accredited Illinois educational institution. Funding is provided through the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG). The program is designed to provide financial assistance to low-income and disadvantaged persons of high academic attainment or potential. Preference is given to applicants of racial or ethnic minorities. Education and training made possible through the scholarships include either general education to achieve short-term training (two years or less) in high technology or growth occupation, or general post-secondary education.
