For 2025:

One-day book bag giveaway event, held on Saturday, August 11th, 2025. Hours are 12 pm-5 pm.

Held at YouTurn campus (4344 North 34th Avenue) and Skinner Magnet (4304 North 33rd Street).

2,500 free book bags will be given away to K-12 students; no documentation is needed.

Other family activities are offered at the event.

School Supplies giveaway Saturday, August 1, 2026, 2 pm-4 pm, South Omaha Location. (2021 U Street.) Distribution is first come, first served. Limited supplies are available.

Back to School Giveaway distributes backpacks filled with school supplies for Head Start -12th grade students from low income households. Free supplies for the first 1,500 kids. GIVEAWAY LOCATION: the 15 DMARC Food Pantries around Polk County will have school supplies to hand out for the bash. Backpacks will be available at the food pantries starting Fall 2026.

Provides a backpack and a set of school supplies for children living in Madison County or going to a Madison County School. These supplies are tailored to the child's specific grade requirements. Individuals must give a $5 donation for a free backpack with school supplies.

Back 2 School Bash - July 26, 2025, 10 am-1 pm. Advance registration is required and tickets cost $5 per child (grades K-5). Bash will be held at the Old MacDonald's Farm and have school supplies, activities, and free food, adults can purchase meals. To register, visit cityofcr.com/schoolbash.

Provides school supplies to students in need at the beginning of each school year through the Back-to-School Fair. Pre-registration is required, call or visit the United Way of Mahaska County Facebook page for more information.
