Helping Services for Youth and Families provides professionally trained family educators who serve families with children ages birth to age three. In-home services provided include: Prenatal teaching and support, Certified breastfeeding support, Infant/child weight checks, Child passenger safety, Healthy, safe home environment checklist, Developmental assessments, Vision and hearing screenings, and Resource referral. Outside of the home parent-child play groups are offered providing social and networking opportunities for families. In addition parenting workshops are provided that focus on creating positive environments where a child can use their energy in successful ways and offering interventions tools for parents that are used by teachers in their child's classroom providing greater consistency for the child. Programs are available in English and Spanish.

Regional Health Services of Howard County offers instruction on prenatal care as well as instruction on newborn infant care. Also provides information and instruction on appropriate techniques for nursing an infant for expectant parents or new mothers.

Provides education and support for pregnant and post-partum women to ensure a successful breastfeeding experience. Services based on the WIC Breastfeeding Model for Peer Counseling by utilizing peers to encourage and support mothers to breastfeed their infants via mother-to-mother support. Peer counselors are paid paraprofessionals with WIC.

Services include:

- Free meetings led by volunteer Leaders who are experienced with breastfeeding and are accredited by La Leche League International.

- Support between meetings for breastfeeding challenges, such as positioning and latch, being sure the baby is getting enough milk, soreness, pumping and milk storage, etc.

- Teaches parents about the ages and stages of breastfeeding.

- Creates a community of support by bringing breastfeeding families together.
