Support and education groups meet monthly. Meetings last about 1-1/2 hours and cover advantages of breastfeeding, how to breastfeed, starting solids, childbirth, and weaning. Accredited leaders also provide breastfeeding information by phone.

Meeting Information:
Day meeting - held second Tuesday of each month at 10 am at St. John's United Methodist Church, 109 West 14th Street, Davenport in the upstairs children's room.

Night meeting - held fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 pm at UnityPoint Hospital, Bettendorf, Room 2224; dads welcome at this meeting.

Helping Services for Youth and Families provides professionally trained family educators who serve families with children ages birth to age three. In-home services provided include: Prenatal teaching and support, Certified breastfeeding support, Infant/child weight checks, Child passenger safety, Healthy, safe home environment checklist, Developmental assessments, Vision and hearing screenings, and Resource referral. Outside of the home parent-child play groups are offered providing social and networking opportunities for families. In addition parenting workshops are provided that focus on creating positive environments where a child can use their energy in successful ways and offering interventions tools for parents that are used by teachers in their child's classroom providing greater consistency for the child. Programs are available in English and Spanish.

- Free meetings led by volunteer Leaders who are experienced with breastfeeding and are accredited by La Leche League International.

- Support between meetings for breastfeeding challenges, such as positioning and latch, being sure the baby is getting enough milk, soreness, pumping and milk storage, etc.

WIC Clinic is open the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Eligible individuals can receive nutrition education, referrals to community services, and vouchers for nutritious foods. Additionally, Peer Educators are available to provide breastfeeding education and support to pregnant and postpartum women enrolled in the Nebraska WIC program. Expectant/New Parent Assistance

Provides a nurse who is assigned as a case manager to every pregnant or parenting mother who is on public aid or low-income. The case manager guides them towards social and educational services they may need to have a healthy family. Nurses are trained and certified as lactation counselors to provide breastfeeding support to nursing mothers.
