Ongoing programs include Breastfeeding Basics, a class for expectant couples planning to breastfeed their baby; Essentials of Childbirth; Infant Massage, which teaches parents techniques to help a baby relax, sleep better and relieve gas and symptoms of colic; and Super Siblings, a class for brothers/sisters preparing them for a new baby in the family.

Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital and Clinics offer lactation consultants for women experiencing pain or frustration with breastfeeding.
Support and education groups meet monthly. Meetings last about 1-1/2 hours and cover advantages of breastfeeding, how to breastfeed, starting solids, childbirth, and weaning. Accredited leaders also provide breastfeeding information by phone.

Meeting Information:
Day meeting - held second Tuesday of each month at 10 am at St. John's United Methodist Church, 109 West 14th Street, Davenport in the upstairs children's room.

Night meeting - held fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 pm at UnityPoint Hospital, Bettendorf, Room 2224; dads welcome at this meeting.

WIC Clinic is open the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Eligible individuals can receive nutrition education, referrals to community services, and vouchers for nutritious foods. Additionally, Peer Educators are available to provide breastfeeding education and support to pregnant and postpartum women enrolled in the Nebraska WIC program. Program for pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people to ensure more babies can celebrate their first birthday (prevent infant mortality), and improve birth outcomes. Clients will receive care from a Registered Nurse and Social Worker to provide pregnancy support.

Open to moms, dads and interested family members, this one-time, two-hour class discusses issues related to breast feeding. Topics include the advantages of breast feeding, proper latching on, milk production, breast care, nutrition and breast pumps. It is designed for mothers who are in or beyond their 6th month of pregnancy.

Winneshiek Medical Center Obstetrics Department offers family-centered care and comprehensive obstetric services. Services include hospital delivery, childbirth education opportunities, lactation consulting (with possible home visits), care seat checks and other health and safety screening, as well as, cultural accommodations.

Counsels WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and handling other concerns. Peer counselors assist with questions on a case by case basis.
