Upholds the County regulations for licensing animals, investigates complaints, and works to ensure the safety of the public and pets from communicable diseases and dangerous strays.

Provides temporary pet food assistance to individuals experiencing financial difficulties. The amount of food provided is based on pet's breed, age and ideal weight. Individuals must have owned the pet for at least six months; individuals may not add additional pets to the original application. Pets must be eight months or older. Pets must show proof of spay/neuter by the second month of participating in the program. Donations of pet food and supplies are accepted on Saturdays from 9 am-2 pm.

BRANCH OFFICES: Polk County Sheriff's Office handles animal control for the unincorporated areas of Polk County (515) 286-3333. After hours a Police Officer may respond to an animal incident.
