The Park and Recreation Department offers a number of recreational programs for all ages in the City of Decorah. Programs include baseball, basketball, biking, bowling, canoeing, fishing, flag football, golf, ice skating, open gyms, skiing, soccer, softball, tae kwon do, t-ball, track and field, volleyball, and youth day camps.

Offers swimming pools and spray pads open to the public. Some Aquatic Centers offer swim sessions, swimming lessons, and private and birthday party rentals. For season passes, passes are sold per household. Individual photo ID cards are required for each family member who wishes to have a pass. All pass holders must have a current photo taken or on file. Photos can be taken at City Hall or the Valley Junction Activity Center during regular business hours or at the West Des Moines Aquatic Centers starting the first week of the season during open swim hours.

An outdoor rink that will be open for the winter season weather permitting. It is located at 2500 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines.
Education support, with the goal that youth and children will graduate from high school with the expectation of pursuing learning opportunities after high school.

Employability skills, so youth will be prepared to develop the skills needed to be gainfully employed; goal is that youth will be ready to get and keep a job at completion of their time at Hope.

Faith-based programming so that youth and children will have the opportunity to hear about and grow in the knowledge of God's love.

Mentoring Programs
Provide the community with as many meaningful recreation opportunities as possible for preschool through older adults. Physical fitness and sports are the goal of the programs. The senior citizen center offers a variety of year round programs at their facilities. The department also operates an outdoor family aquatic center, activity center, skate park, ballfield complexes, tracks and 14 park areas and facilities.

Outdoor education acquaints urban residents with the natural areas in Lincoln, including the Wilderness Park riparian forest, and the Pioneers Park Nature Center which includes 8.5 miles of trails and 668 acres of wetlands, virgin prairie, and live animal exhibits.

Four 18-hole public golf courses and one 9-hole junior golf course.

The municipal pool provides general swimming water recreational activities for the public. In addition, specific programs are offered including: swim lessons for people with disabilities, parent-infant/toddler and pre-school swim lessons, Red Cross swim lessons (Levels 1-6), Red Cross lifeguard training and water safety classes, and water exercise sessions.

The Y's fitness amenities include a 25-meter indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, more than 50 land and water exercise classes, an indoor track, two gymnasiums (basketball, volleyball, pickleball), two racquetball courts, free weights and nautilus weight room, and cardio theater (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers, 7 TVs with cable).

Offers a variety of open and lap swim opportunities along with water exercises and swim teams.

Weight management and nutrition programs including LifeTracks medically supervised program for people who need to lose 50 pounds or more. LifePointe University helps children and their families with weight issues and nutrition consultations.

Cancer recovery programs.

Rehabilitation/medical services, offered with physician referral (hours vary), include physical therapy, warm water therapy, anticoagulation clinic, cardiac rehabilitation, chest pain/angina and heart failure therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, diabetes education that includes medical nutrition therapy, assistance with insulin management and/or insulin pump instruction and gestational diabetes, foot care clinic.

Spa services include massage therapy, facial and skin treatment, body treatments, pedicures, and medical spa.

Dermatologist on staff. Cosmetic services such as Botox, fillers, and acne treatment.
