Offers an inpatient mental health treatment program for children, adolescents and adults. A mental health assessment is conducted to determine level of care needed and to establish the proper treatment program.

Provides treatment for patients who have a history of sexually deviant behavior. The population includes individuals identified as convicted sex offenders serving sentences through the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services and those individuals who have been committed under an inpatient mental health board order for sex offender treatment.

Offers a transition program which works to gradually release the patients with appropriate safeguards, to allow patients the opportunity to successfully return to the community.

Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children: a PMIC facility for emotionally disturbed children between the ages of 10 to 17 and is operated by Orchard Place, a private, non-sectarian, non-profit corporation. Orchard Place can accept children of average or potentially average intelligence who evidence a desire for help and a willingness to make a commitment to treatment. No child is denied admission on the basis of race, religion, creed, or residence.

Includes individual therapy for each child, recreational and group therapy, medication monitoring, pediatric and nursing services, family therapy; and therapeutic living relationships to enable living with self and others. Education provided through Des Moines Public Schools.
