The program aims to address challenges related to adjusting to cultural differences, offering emotional support and information to help participants build confidence and understanding in a culturally sensitive environment.

Provides equitable access and opportunities for economic success for underserved clients. Programs include job readiness, assisting with job placement and developing skills to aid in job retention, ELL, citizenship, computer skills, resume writing, networking, cultural transition support groups and peer discussions, effective parenting, education and coaching to enhance and promote financial literacy and long-term self-sufficiency, and other skills necessary to compete in the modern workplace.

The programs address the barriers impacting low income and refugee families and their ability to move along the self-sufficiency continuum. Barriers from employment discrimination, language barriers, poverty, family conflict, transportation, financial illiteracy, and much more. Programs and class offerings are designed to be flexible to fit individual needs, and include a “high touch” service model which is both culturally competent and language specific.

Educates and supports refugee, asylee, and immigrant families and helps them transition to a new culture. Services include:

- Refugee/immigrant mutual support groups.

- Linkage with mainstream providers regarding the mental health needs of clientele and the barriers encountered by them. Mediations and education related to cultural differences are provided.

- One-on-one counseling at the Center, a neutral site, or in the homes of families in crisis.

- Basic immigration applications and immigration legal referrals.

- Cultural orientation counseling for refugee and other ORR eligible clients.

- Culturally appropriate workshops dealing with money, public benefits and health issues.

- Translation of documents and interpretation in community settings.

- Advocate and liaison in clients' places of employment, schools, hospitals, courts, with landlords, etc.

- Aid in completing paperwork for citizenship, residency, family reunification, etc.

- Assistance with applying for government benefits.

Designed to ensure equitable access, personal and professional development, and opportunity for the refugee/immigrant community. Students learn how to secure food and ingredients similar to products in their native lands, live healthier lives, and sustain economic and social development in our communities.
