Provides a specialized residential treatment program for delinquent adolescents in response to serious anti-social behavior. Referred youth may be victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, emotionally disturbed, behavioral disorder, runaways, homeless, alleged delinquents who do not require a secure setting or any youth in similar crisis situations that may place them at risk.

Offers outpatient mental health therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, including Individual Sessions, Family Sessions, Couples Sessions, and Group Sessions.

The staff will meet with the client weekly in the comfort of their home or in the Sky Ranch office. The primary focus will be on individual support and guidance in the areas of behavior, interpersonal relationship skills, internal control development, and family relationship skills.

CORRECTIONS SERVICES | WOODWARD ACADEMY

Offers a residential treatment facility for male youth. All programs are aimed at redirecting delinquent, negative behaviors to positive, socially acceptable patterns. Specific programs include:

COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM serves male students 12-17 years of age; the length of stay is typically 4-6 months (flexibility to extend to 9-12). Students learn how to hold themselves and others accountable by developing the ability to confront and appropriately deal with negative behaviors.

COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM is for male students 14-17 years of age, who are in need of a short term intervention.

SEXUAL OFFENDERS PROGRAM serves males students 12-17 years of age, who have demonstrated sexually aggressive or inappropriate behaviors.

Mental health services includes the following:

Outreach Program offers community-based and in-home counseling services that include individual and family skill development and crisis intervention at school, home or in the community. Funding for the program is available through Title XIX.

Substance Abuse Services is an outpatient chemical dependency treatment program that serves youth who are using or abusing chemical substances.

Court Based Intervention Program and Early Services Project are diversion programs for first or second time offenders designed as a consequence and a deterrent to future system involvement.

Community Sanctions Program call for information on the Pace Sanctions and Pace Violators programs.

Juvenile Court School Program is a collaborative project between Juvenile Court, the Des Moines Public Schools, and PACE. Juvenile Court School Liaisons are housed in several middle schools and high schools to provide on-site supervision and interventions to youth under the jurisdiction of the court system or youth who are considered at-risk for juvenile court involvement.
