The 2025 Spring Cleanup dates have passed, as of 9/16/25. Spring Cleanup dates for 2026 to be determined.
SPRING CLEANUP SERVICES (during cleanup dates):
Multiple neighborhoods in a specific section of the city will accept items for disposal and recycling. Refer to the website or call for acceptable pick-up items and details.
The free event provides Omaha residents the opportunity to recycle or dispose of large or bulky items that are not accepted through curbside waste or recycling services (old furniture, appliances, tires, and mattresses).
Spring clean up program for those within Omaha city limits only. Program generally runs April thru Mid-May. On specified Saturdays, a pre-determined location accepts only materials that cannot be set out for regular recycling or trash.
Fall clean up program for those within Omaha city limits only. Program generally runs mid-October thru November. On specified Saturdays, a pre-determined location accepts only materials that cannot be set out for regular recycling or trash.

The plant receives garbage from Ames and the surrounding communities in Story County. Private contractors are available to haul garbage, but citizens can do it themselves. The plant recovers reusable metals and garbage and recycles everything that's possible. The non-burnable material is sent to a landfill.
Recycling bins are available for food waste, glass, plastic bottles with screw-top lids, metal, clothing, cardboard, and mixed paper.
