Public library offering Internet access, free wi-fi, computer classes, and free access to Ancestry.com and FamilySearch. Provides books, e-books, audiobooks, DVDs, video games, board games, puzzles, cake pans, projectors, tables, chairs for loan; free meeting room space. Purchases books for patrons. Provides tax forms, fax, copy, scanning, laminating, and CD/DVD cleaning services. Search local obituaries and high school yearbooks on site. Laser cutter, heat press, and mug press available for free use; training available.

Reading at Home (RAH) door delivery program for homebound.

Activities include summer reading program, preschool story time, Library Beats program for toddlers, Friday Friends Playgroup on the second and fourth Fridays of the month for children birth to 5 years, bingo on the third Wednesday of the month for any ages, needlecraft club, monthly adult programs, and other special programs. Family craft days, family board game nights, video gaming, Anime Club, Lego Club, teen book club, D and D Club, Saturday morning cartoons, Trading Card Club, and other activities for youth and adults.

Offers library services to the city of Grimes which includes books, preschool story time, baby story time (birth to 18 months), DVD's, Audio Books on CD, book discussion, and internet access. Other services: fax machine, copy machine, early out (School Early Dismissal) programs, extensive summer reading program, notary services, Iowa Adventure Passes, American Girl Dolls, WiFi hotspots, STEAM kits, Dyslexia resources, Early Childhood Learning Resources, 1000 books program, Telescope, Portable scanner, VR headset, portable DVD players, Light Table, Interactive Play Station, AWE computers and volunteer opportunities.

Assists in the Library and Archives Research. Whether researching as an author, educator, student, reporter, curator, archeologist, preservationist, historian or genealogist, research materials are provided on microfilm, and books. Most books are browsable on the shelves. Patrons who are interested in accessing the State Archives and Special Collections or Library materials that are not on the open stacks are encouraged to make an appointment and advise staff two business days in advance about the materials they would like to research.
