2026 YouthHope Holiday Food Baskets

Holiday Food Basket Application begin October 1, 2026. Holiday baskets include holiday meal food items and a grocery gift certificate. Baskets are limited. Clients who apply for a food basket from another agency are not eligible. First-come, first-served. Basket recipients will receive a basket pick-up card at the time of application with details.

Application must be completed in-person during Food Pantry hours: Monday & Friday 9 am-12 pm. Families may select either Thanksgiving OR Christmas while supplies last. Please one ONE basket per family per year.

THANKSGIVING BASKET DISTRIBUTION: Thursday, November 19, 2026 (9 am-12 pm)

CHRISTMAS BASKET DISTRIBUTION: Thursday, December 17, 2026 (9 am-12 pm)

For Christmas 2025:

Heart of Christmas is Sat, Dec 6th, from 10 am-11 am, held at the Faith Church in Rock Valley, IA. Provides a Christmas store for children ages 3-11, and parents pay $5 per child to choose and wrap a gift. The store closes at 10:45 am, so parents must arrive before that time.

This also qualifies parents to receive a holiday meal kit. Children enter the Christmas Carnival area with a variety of games and decorate Christmas cookies. There is an interactive retelling of the Christmas story.

Parents must register by Nov 21. Register online at www.loveincsiouxcounty.org, our facebook page, or call (712) 476-5990. No registration needed for Christmas Carnival. (All children must be accompanied by a parent at the event.)

Toys for Tots holiday program, providing gifts for children.

For Christmas 2025:
The Toys for Tots Application is open from October 1-November 17, 2025.

Apply online. You will receive a letter/voucher if you are accepted into the program.

Heartland United Way works in partnership with the US Marine Corp each year to offer the Toys for Tots program. Children must be age 12 or younger and reside in the household.

For 2025:

Community dinner on Thanksgiving Day, 12 pm-3 pm. Call to request delivery.

Sign up for Christmas food boxes and toys for children before December 1, 2025. Visit the Salvation Army at 120 South 7th Street. Applicants must bring driver's license and proof of children in their home (insurance cards, Medicaid Cards, school IDs).

Christmas food baskets/toys handed out on December 20, 2025, to those that registered.

2025 - Offers a free Christmas dinner on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Served from 11 am-1:30 pm. To reserve for dine in call before December 19th, 2025.

For Pick up, we will need your name, time you will pick up the meal/s and the number of meals by December 19th, 2025. Email or call between Tue-Fri 9 am-12 pm.

Christmas assistance is available through the Angel Tree program, which provides a Christmas dinner food box and toys for children ages 0-12.

For the 2025 Angel Tree program, call to make an appointment after October 20th. Application appointments are made in the first 2 weeks of November.

Christmas gifts to children whose parents are incarcerated. Camping and Sports Camps offered to children whose parents are incarcerated.

The program is active for Christmas 2025; the parent(s) in prison must register through their prison chaplain.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

Projects vary annually and by county office. Community members may contact their county BVCA office for details about local holiday programs.

Provides low-cost merchandise (clothes, toys, furniture,etc.) to area residents and sponsors the Christmas Share Program.

For Christmas 2025:

As of 11/20/25, no longer accepting applications but community members may still call and see if the office might have extra gift cards to Dollar Fresh and Family Fare grocery stores in Richardson County for food for the families (distributed on December 14th).

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

Provides the City of Ankeny's annual Beggar's Night.

Provides food for the entire family at Christmas time and toys for children age 13 and younger. Only available to Northern Champaign County residents. Must provide proof of income for the last 30 days. Proof of address needed for all members of the household (For example, Medicaid card, report card, daycare letter, doctors bill, etc.)

Registration begins November 3-22, 2025, Mon-Fri 10 am-4 pm, Sat 9 am-12 pm. Please visit office and provided necessary documents.

Thanksgiving Food distribution for 2025:

This WILL count as your November Pantry. One pantry distribution per address. IDs are required for each household member. Forms of ID accepted:

. Social Security Card. Birth certificate. Medicaid/Medicare card

Clients may not receive food at one pantry and receive food at the other. Clients attempting to receive food at more than one Heartland Hope pantry per address will be denied.

Provides Christmas gifts and clothing to families struggling due to financial hardship. Families fill out personalized wish lists for each of their children.

Offers gifts and food to those in need for the Christmas 2025 holiday. Reach out to the local County Outreach Office for more information regarding holiday help in the area.

Giving Tree provides Christmas presents for children.

For Christmas 2025, Giving Tree registration forms are available at the pantry starting Mon, Oct 7, 2025. Same-day application at the pantry is preferred. Deadline to submit forms is Wed, Nov 19.

Provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the year. Special holiday meals are offered at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

Breakfast Mon-Sun: 7:30 am, Lunch Mon-Sun: 11:30 am, Dinner Mon-Sun: 5 pm, at chapel.

Thanksgiving Meal Wednesday before Thanksgiving: 12 pm.

Grandparents are invited to shop every year for their grandchildren during the holiday season. Grandchildren must be 10 years old or younger.

Register for an appointment between November 10th - November 24, 2025. Please bring ID or Clarity card.

City of Clive Beggar's Night.

Provides assistive technology for blind or visually impaired students to use in their homes.

Makes annual award to Nebraska teacher of the blind and visually impaired.

Offers a scholarship to graduating senior high school students.

Sponsors annual Christmas Party for blind and visually impaired children.

Blessing Boxes distributed every Saturday at JB Young, including cleaning, hygiene, paper products, and laundry products.

Community garden available in the summer.

Thanksgiving program for 2025 - Free meal on Thanksgiving Day, Thu, Nov 27, 2025, from 11 am-1 pm. Eat in or take out at the church.

Four Mile and Pioneer Columbus Recreation Centers will help families sign up for 2024 Toys for Tots during the holiday season. Registration begins Nov. 1, 2024, and goes through Nov 30, 2024. Gift pick-ups are Mon Dec. 16, 2024, from 12 pm- 6 pm; Tue Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 pm-8 pm and Dec. 18, 2024, from 12 pm-6 pm at the center where families register.
