Warm Neighbor Cool Friends are no longer offering assistance during the summer months. They do offer assistance once a year during the heating season form October 1 - May 31st.

Screening, Assessment, and Support Services (SASS) is a home and community-based program that provides mental health services to adolescents and children who are at risk of being removed from their family; the goal is to keep children in their homes through comprehensive assessments and intensive treatment services.

Drop-in center for people who are experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. The Peer Center is run by staff who have lived experience and a passion for supporting others in their recovery journey. It serves as a safe place to build friendships and receive support while identifying and pursuing individual goals for wellness and recovery.

Answers questions regarding government benefits and community resources such as: Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Benefits Access Application (driver's license discount, seniors and persons with disabilities ride free), energy assistance (LIHEAP), intervention and advocacy on a client's behalf, assessment of need and referral for services, and assistance in the completion of forms and applications for benefits.

Offers gently used and new items that are bargains for shoppers. Items offered include jeans, business attire, infant and children's clothing, housewares, linens, furniture, and more.

Provides financial resources, or refers individuals to the CBRAP program. For financial support, must have received an eviction notice to receive assistance with rent. Funding is limited to housing crises caused by situations beyond the individuals control, and requires documentation that the individual has the means to pay rent moving forward.

Offers a local membership organization which works to promote member businesses and support the economic development in the community.

Provides a variety of services both inpatient and outpatient, and hospital services. 

Provides practical information for anyone to access in the areas served. Education services include agriculture, horticulture, family and consumer economics, nutrition and wellness, and youth development. The website has information about different programming options available.

Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. The application period is from October 1-April 30 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30th for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines. LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th. May be able to help with repairs on a furnace but cannot replace the furnace. Keep checking back on the furnace program as it is dependent on funding that changes frequently.

Provides important training and education programs in the area of computer crimes, including online child pornography, online sexual abuse, online fraud, e-mail threats, identity theft, and computer hacking. In addition, the bureau offers investigative and prosecutorial assistance with cases and coordinates the Illinois Internet Child Exploitation Task Force.

The Illinois Computer Crime Institute (ICCI), an entity within the Attorney General's High Tech Crimes Bureau, is dedicated to training and supporting Illinois law enforcement and prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of high technology crimes, as well as in the use of high technology tools to enhance the effectiveness of their work.

Helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by enabling them to successfully live, learn, work, and socialize in the community. Its programs are attuned to the unique potential of each individual and designed to build self-confidence and independence. Support services are provided through one or more of the following programs:

- 24-hour residential support.

- Developmental training.

- Supported living.

- Supported employment.

- Competitive employment.

- Janitorial training.

Provides a food pantry with perishable and non-perishable food items. 

Oversees two rural drop off sites:

- Scott County Park - Half mile east of the main park entrance on 270th Street

- West Lake Park - Gate 2 on 110th Avenue

Residents may recycle newspaper, cardboard, boxboard, mail, glass, aluminum, plastic, and magazines.

Provides free or low-cost health coverage to people with low incomes, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

DHS administers the applications for Medicaid through ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility), which is the part of the DHS website where Illinois residents can apply for Medicaid, SNAP, and cash benefits.
