Food boxes are available once a month to families in need within the 7 county service areas. Contact the local county outreach office for further assistance. Depending on availability, a food box would consist of meats, canned goods, baking products and toiletry items. There is no charge for the food pantry, but basic household information and proof of residency in one of the 7 counties is requested, when applying. The Food Bank of Iowa supplements the food pantry needs.

Offers to assist a relative caregiver who wants to obtain guardianship through probate court of a relative's child living in the home of the caregiver. This includes

- Educating and helping the caregiver negotiate the probate court system.

  • Assisting caregivers to obtain required documents.
  • Arranging for legal counsel in counties where legal counsel is necessary.

    EFSP caseworkers meet with the relative caregiver monthly until guardianship has been obtained or until other services have been provided. These services can include crisis intervention, applying for benefits, working with local schools for the child's enrollment, and referral to a range of needed services that the caregiver may have to help meet the basic needs of the family.

The sale of donated items sold in retail stores supports mission programs. People in the community donate gently used clothing, furniture and household items to Goodwill. The proceeds from the sales of the donated items subsidize mission programs, giving thousands of individuals in the Omaha area the chance to earn a living and find independence.

Goodwill also accepts residential computers, printers and monitors at no charge, regardless of age or condition. Drop off at any Goodwill donation center. No tube TVs.
