Educational programs, services, and leadership for public and non-public schools in six Eastern Iowa counties. Services and resources from the Mississippi Bend AEA are available to local schools without charge, except some non-mandated services.

Public library. 

Offers a free parenting program for children between the ages of 18 months to 5 years of age who are struggling with behavioral issues, such as aggression, tantrums, separation anxiety, non-compliance, difficulty in school/daycare, etc.

Grant program to correct critical repairs that threaten the health, safety, and welfare of very-low income households.

Eligible repairs include:

- Heating systems (furnaces)

- Replacement of faulty water heaters

- Repair exterior water service lines

- Electrical problems with the electrical service on the exterior (outside) of homes

Provides a Child Support Recovery Unit program to assist (both public assistance and non-public assistance) families with child support recovery.

Offers a program for parents and youth individuals ages 10-14 to work together and build relationships. Participants will practice skills, play learning games, and do family projects in highly interactive sessions. Sessions are designed to increase family bonding, build positive communication skills, and solve problems together. 

Provides practical information for anyone to access in the areas served. Education services include agriculture, horticulture, family and consumer economics, nutrition and wellness, and youth development. The website has information about different programming options available.

Psychiatric residential treatment facility providing 24-hour awake staff for boys and girls ages 5-17 with behavioral health problems or mental illness.

Offers individuals with a serious mental illness the opportunity to work in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Clients will be given an opportunity to learn vocational skills, earn money, improve self-esteem, learn to work with others in a cooperative effort, and improve chances for future competitive employment. Individuals learn office skills, light industrial skills such as assembling, packaging, and housekeeping.

Provides assistance with filing of Benefits Access Application, Medicare Part D, and general information and referral to other services for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Connects those who need it to mental health treatment. MHAP uses mental health case management to reduce the individual's barriers to care, walk with them through the treatment process and provide support throughout.

Offers support groups for individuals who have experienced strokes or cancer and individuals who had weight loss surgery.

Assists older persons or their caregivers in identifying their needs and place them in contact with appropriate community resources or service providers.

Follow up activities are included such as making sure the older person was able to receive the service or help the older person obtain the service.

Tobacco Information/Education - Provides tobacco/ENDS information and resources. Provides information on coalition engagement, volunteering, and Nebraska Quitline. Tobacco-Free Businesses - assists with implementing a smoke and/or tobacco-free policy. Smoke-Free Housing - assists with smoke and/or tobacco-free policies. Assists in finding smoke free housing. Services are provided in partnership with Heartland Family Service, American Lung Association, Creighton University Medical Center, Douglas County Department of Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health - Center for Reducing Health Disparities.
