Allamakee County Food Shelf

Provides supplemental food for people in need through a weekly food pantry. The amount of food depends on the number of people in the family. In emergency situations people may call and arrange for food outside of the weekly pantry hours. This is a participating TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) food pantry. Enrollment into TEFAP is confidential and requires proof of address and identification. Individuals participating in the FoodShare, School Nutrition Program, WIC, or Senior Meals programs may participate in TEFAP without impacting their ability to qualify for those programs.

Provides a web-based marketplace of Iowa-grown food for willing buyers and sellers. Acting as an agent of producer members, the Iowa Food Cooperative provides a web-based system for producers to post the foods and goods they have for sale, receives orders from consumer members, facilitates the delivery of these products to the cooperative’s distribution sites, collects money from the consumer members who have purchased these products, and forwards payments to the producers. At no time does the cooperative take title to any of the products. Food Order and Delivery System is based on this website. It is a once-a-month ordering and delivery cycle. Must become a member to use this service. To find distribution sites outside of the Des Moines area please visit the website.
