Offers to assist a relative caregiver who wants to obtain guardianship through probate court of a relative's child living in the home of the caregiver. This includes

- Educating and helping the caregiver negotiate the probate court system.

• Assisting caregivers to obtain required documents.
• Arranging for legal counsel in counties where legal counsel is necessary.

  EFSP caseworkers meet with the relative caregiver monthly until guardianship has been obtained or until other services have been provided. These services can include crisis intervention, applying for benefits, working with local schools for the child's enrollment, and referral to a range of needed services that the caregiver may have to help meet the basic needs of the family.

Provides free and confidential sexual assault/abuse and crime victim services to anyone that has been sexually assaulted/abused. Off-site/out-of-office services provided include trauma-informed services, counseling/therapy, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, social services and basic needs advocacy/case management, safety planning, 24/7 crisis helplines, and 24/7 crisis intervention at hospitals/law enforcement. Service plans based upon services client wants to receive.

Also provides community trainings in Professional settings and offers Information about Services.

Telehealth is provided for those that need, or would like it.

Provides knowledgeable staff to help find services provided by other agencies and institutions in each area. They network within their communities to make sure they provide the best solutions for people in need and avoid duplicating services.

Provides a food pantry for individuals in need. Individuals may visit the pantry once a week. Pre-orders can be placed ahead for pick-up. Delivery services may be available within Lisbon and Mount Vernon. 

Provides a team of trained volunteers who can mobilize resources to provide post-disaster mental health services. This team is sponsored by the Department of Human Services, Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health and County Social Services.

Recycling Center accepts processed yard waste, white goods (i.e. stoves, water heaters, air conditioners, dryers, freezers, microwaves, etc), electronics, hazardous waste (paint, thinners), tires, scrap metals.

Accept green waste, appliances, electronic waste, tires and household hazardous materials.

Does not accept sharps (needles, razors, etc.), construction debris (wood, shingles, dock planks), explosives (ammunition, fireworks), radioactive materials, concrete or stone, furniture, pop cans, glass bottles, plastic, Styrofoam or cardboard.

Air conditioners provided, when available, to the most vulnerable individuals (especially seniors 60 and older) who are experiencing health problems that make air conditioning a medical necessity, or those of any age with medical necessity.

Offers a vending machine that distribute safe injection supplies, safe inhalation supplies, drug testing kits, and antidotes to reverse an overdose from opioids via a self serve dispensing or vending machine. 

Provides comprehensive health care services, including lab tests, EKGs, skin biopsies, geriatric assessments, cryotherapy, and more.

Offers a day center that serves adults with physical or psychological challenges. Available services include skilled nursing, meals, and specialized programming to meet individual needs and to assist with personal cares, while providing caregivers a break from their caregiving duties.

Works with primary care providers who identify social/emotional or developmental concerns, family stressors, or caregiver depression during well child medical exams. If a condition is identified, the family is referred to a support specialist who provides care coordination. Specialists may provide referrals for developmental screening, mental health or behavioral health services, or other needs, and will monitor the family's progress.

Offers skilled care in home for persons in need of assistance. Light housekeeping, cooking and shopping.

Offers to help individuals develop abilities and skills to be successful in roles within their chosen living, learning and social environments.

Provides a Child Support Recovery Unit program to assist (both public assistance and non-public assistance) families with child support recovery.

Offers a program for parents and youth individuals ages 10-14 to work together and build relationships. Participants will practice skills, play learning games, and do family projects in highly interactive sessions. Sessions are designed to increase family bonding, build positive communication skills, and solve problems together. 

Outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program offering a continuum of care from evaluation to education/intervention to treatment and aftercare for adolescents and adults experiencing life area problems due to misuse, abuse, or dependence on alcohol/drugs. Individualized treatment services provided in individual, family, and group counseling sessions.

Inpatient treatment for adults available in Elgin.

Provides a free lunch every Thursday to veterans, widows, active-duty members, reservists, National Guard members, and their spouses.
