Provides information about rights and responsibilities for tenants and landlords. Offers advocacy and referrals to resources on behalf of tenants in Champaign County experiencing rental issues such as neglected property maintenance, disputes about damage deposit deductions, evictions, unlawful discrimination, violations of lease by landlord, tenant rights under state and local laws. Services may also provide a monthly "Low-Cost Housing List" which provides contact information for the local Housing Authority, privately-owned subsidized housing, and small number of other options.

Montgomery County Outreach Office

Provides financial help with heating and electric bills. Applications are accepted starting October 1st through August 15th or when funding is exhausted.

October is a priority period reserved for elderly, disabled, families with children 5 and under, and disconnected households. The general population can apply starting November 1st.

This program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs. The amount of the benefit is based on number in the household, the 30-day income of the household and the source of heat. This is a one-time payment to the household's energy provider.

Grant County Veterans Services Office

County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs.  Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents.  Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service.  Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Grant County. State level services do not require wartime service.  Assist in completing applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund; fee exempt fishing and hunting permits; applications to the Nebraska Veterans Homes; waivers of tuition. Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

Services include a crisis mental health evaluation in the Emergency Department, adult inpatient services offering 24-hour nursing care in a secure, therapeutic environment, and a transitional living program that provides community re-entry support services for those managing mental illness. 

Also offers adult outpatient services and structured psychiatric day treatment programs, which provide a therapeutic environment with services such as individual, group, and family therapy, social and recreational activities, and adjunctive therapies for individuals who do not require full-time hospital care.
