Advocates for residents living in licensed long term care facilities.

Serves residents of Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities. Certified Ombudsman regularly visits these facilities to educate LTC residents of their rights, empower them to engage in problem-solving efforts, follow up on concerns, and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of LTC residents.

Works to preserve and protect the dignity of individuals who reside in long-term care facilities in our communities. Ombudsmen are committed to ensuring residents are treated with respect and advocate for individuals to receive the highest level of care and services to maximize independence.

Offers to advocate for the rights and needs of Medicaid managed care members in Iowa who live or receive care in a health care facility, assisted living program or elder group home, as well as members enrolled in one of Medicaid's home and community-based services (HCBS) waiver programs (AIDS/HIV, Brain Injury, Children's Mental Health, Elderly, Health and Disability, Intellectual Disability and Physical Disability).

Advocacy services for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Staff and volunteers of the program help ensure that residents enjoy the best possible quality of life by promoting, protecting, and providing education on the rights of residents.

Advocates for nursing home residents' rights, investigates complaints and abuse allegations, provides consultation on how to choose a nursing home, and mediates solutions to problems. Works with families and residents.

Works to identify or investigate concerns made by or on behalf of people living in long-term care facilities. Assistance may include: investigation and work to resolve the problem, information on laws and regulations, how to choose a long-term care facility or answering questions about life at a facility. Assist callers in level of care needed (info about nursing homes, residential care, elder group homes, assisted living). All services are confidential and free of charge.
