Galesburg Youth Athletic Club

Provides a boxing diversion program to drug use, gangs, and violence. Services are available for all youth, especially those in low-income households, to participate in extracurricular activities while providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment. Youth are taught the fundamentals of Olympic boxing through the direction of licensed/certified coaches. The program is designed to teach responsibility and self-control while supporting positive life outlook. Issues of pre-delinquent and delinquent behaviors such as alcohol and drug use are addressed in the program. Can also establish tutors for youth members as needed.

Supports individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the process of accessing housing services. This is not a guarantee of immediate housing, but a critical first step toward potential assistance. 

Eligible clients complete a standardized need and risk assessment, which places them on a housing prioritization list. Housing programs review this list and select clients as space and funding become available. Placement and timing depend on program availability, eligibility criteria, and prioritization factors.

Children’s Homestead services the more difficult foster care cases in DCFS. The children are placed into homes with foster parents who are trained and committed to provide care. The child is assigned a case worker who provides case management. The child is teamed with a licensed therapist who works with the child and foster parents to engage the child in programs like a therapeutic mentor program to overcome behavioral and socialization issues.
