Offers children and adults with and without disabilities to enjoy all Easter Seals Iowa Camp Sunnyside has to offer including canoeing, an animal farm, horseback riding, archery, nature trails, the Variety Club Rec Center, an accessible indoor pool and the Meredith Tree House. At night campers sleep in new, air conditioned lodges. Sessions are held at Camp Sunnyside for campers age four and older. Week-long and day camps are offered during the summer. Programs offered include Weekend Respite, Emergency Respite, Week long Overnight Resident Camp (Adults), Week long Overnight Resident Camp (Youth), Children’s Day Camp, and Teen and Young Adult Day Camp.

Offers to assist a relative caregiver who wants to obtain guardianship through probate court of a relative's child living in the home of the caregiver. This includes

- Educating and helping the caregiver negotiate the probate court system.

  • Assisting caregivers to obtain required documents.
  • Arranging for legal counsel in counties where legal counsel is necessary.

    EFSP caseworkers meet with the relative caregiver monthly until guardianship has been obtained or until other services have been provided. These services can include crisis intervention, applying for benefits, working with local schools for the child's enrollment, and referral to a range of needed services that the caregiver may have to help meet the basic needs of the family.

North Platte Public Schools Early Childhood Program

Early childhood special education offers evaluations to families at no cost in the areas of infant and toddler assessment, developmental skills, speech and language, hearing and vision, and fine and gross motor skills. Early development services coordination provides a central point of contact for families with children, birth to three years, with disabilities or developmental delays.  A service coordinator is assigned to each family to ensure they get the help they need as they are linked with developmental evaluations through the schools, Nebraska Health and Human Services programs, health resources, parent-to-parent support, etc. Services in the natural environment provided for children birth to age three in a location where the child normally is or where the child' parents would like him/her to be; staff work with parents as their coach, helping them to become their child's teacher. Community based services for children ages three to five are provided in community preschools, child care centers, or wherever the child spends his/her day.  A team approach is used to develop speech and language, expand vocabulary, and refine gross and fine motor skills as well as emphasizing socialization.
