Mid-Sioux Opportunity Outreach Office - Cherokee County

Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. The application period is from October 1-April 30 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30th for the rest of the households.

LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th.

Embrace Iowa is a project through the Des Moines Register that is administered by Community Action Agencies in the state and is only accessible during a certain time period. Requests that are considered for this project may include beds, clothing, car repairs, medical expenses (including pharmacy, dental and corrective lenses), furniture, rent, utilities, home repairs, household items, appliances, and miscellaneous other things (computer, etc.) If there is not a service available to assist someone, this could be a possibility for them to apply for these funds during this time period. The maximum dollar amount awarded per household is $750.

Omni Inventive Care - Lincoln Office

Provides out-of-home placement for a wide range of youth, including young victims of abuse and neglect, emergency short term care, and youth with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. The goals for the youth in care are either reunification with family, guardianship or adoption, or independent living. Care is delivered in private homes with specially trained foster parents. Foster Care Specialists are responsible for coordinating various services while youth are in care. If required, the agency will provide additional therapeutic support to both the biological family and foster family, as well as the youth in care.

Offers a multidisciplinary team to provide behavioral health care, including services from Psychiatrists, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Chemical Dependency Counselors, and other support care persons. Services may include inpatient mental health care for individuals with acute psychiatric disorders who require hospitalization, either voluntarily or involuntarily, to ensure safety and stabilization. The program aims to prepare individuals for a return to the community by facilitating ongoing treatment, supporting family members in coping with the illness, and arranging additional supportive services as needed.
