Iowa's Juvenile Fire Intervention Program - Region 4 - Southwest

Provides a cohesive partnership among the communities and Fire Departments to reduce the number of fire injuries and deaths, by providing evaluation, education, and redirection assistance to the children who exhibit fire setting behavior at no cost to the families affected. Trained providers will connect a child (or youth) to appropriate resources in the community, this can include fire safety education or professional counseling services when necessary. LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) provides supplemental help for the winter heating bills November 1st through April 15th: LIHEAP Crisis Assistance when funding available provides in a life threatening situation fuel, heaters, furnace repair; furnace replacement for homeowners when funds available. Applications are accepted October 1-April 30 for elderly or disabled households and November 1-April 30 for all other households.  May have some crisis funding available outside the normal LIHEAP months, call local County Outreach Office for availability of funding.

Foster parents cooperate with the court to set goals that ideally results in the return of the child to their family. If that is not possible, foster parents are asked to commit to permanency for the child.

Specialized foster care programs work to meet the special needs of physically, behaviorally, and emotionally challenged children and the foster families serving them. Provides intensive case management, comprehensive mental health services along with medical, developmental, and educational service specific to the child's needs.
