Clinton County Commission of Veterans Affairs

County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Iowa for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Clinton County.

State level services do not require wartime service. Assists in completing applications for the Iowa Veterans Aid Fund, fee exempt fishing and hunting permits, applications to the Iowa Veterans Home, waivers of tuition.

Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.

Mental Health Access Center - Cedar Rapids

Provides crisis care for people experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis that requires immediate attention. Services include mental health, psychiatric and substance abuse screenings, crisis stabilization (evaluation and treatment for those that need observation for a more thorough evaluation), counseling services and care coordination through key service providers.  Patients can also be brought in with loved ones or come on their own. Use of Mental Health Access Center services is 100 percent voluntary.

UnityPoint Health - Saint Luke's Hospital - Cedar Rapids

Provides personal emergency response system (PERS) devices to assist individuals in calling for help when there is an emergency, or they need assistance and are unable to get to a phone. Individuals may benefit from a PERS if they spend time alone during the day or night, take more than four medications daily, concerned about the possibility of falling, has been hospitalized or to the ER in the past 12 months, use a cane, walker, or aid to assist with mobility, has been diagnosed with heart disease, a pulmonary disorder, osteoporosis, diabetes or arthritis, or needs assistance with meal preparation, bathing, dressing or toileting.

West Central Community Action - Monona County

For Monona County, deadline is December 5, 2025, and must be a client receiving services from LIHEAP. Call to make appointment for LIHEAP and then receive application for Holiday Adoption.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.]

Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault - CARE Center of McHenry County

Age-appropriate educational programs are available to students from preschool through college to help raise awareness of sexual violence. Prevention programs are also available to community members interested in learning more about sexual violence. Programs are tailored to meet audience needs.

Professional trainings are also available to service providers and professionals to increase knowledge of sexual violence and raise awareness of community resources. Programs topics include personal body safety, sexual harassment, sexual assault, date rape drugs, and teen dating violence.

Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership - Creighton Family Services Office

Tax preparation for low income individuals/families and senior citizens (60 and over). Family Service Coordinators are trained to help prepare tax forms and/or answer tax questions. All offices are equipped to e-file, and coordinators also assist with Homestead Exemption preparation. No self-employed or farm returns are prepared.

For the 2024 tax season, clients must contact their local office for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska

Grants wishes of children in Nebraska with critical illnesses. Children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18, who has been determined by a physician to have a life-threatening medical condition, are eligible for a wish. In granting this wish they emphasize the entire family in the hope that they can provide them with some special memories. All expenses are paid, including airline tickets, rental cars, meals, spending money, passes for attractions, film, etc. Referrals can be made by a parent, legal guardian, the child, or a medical professional.
