Provides energy efficiency services without cost to homeowners or renters who meet guidelines. Installation of work measurers are determined and measured by a computerized energy audit. Work includes sealing air infiltration leaks, high-density insulation, health and safety check, heating system repair or replacement, water heaters repair or replacement, refrigerator/freezer diagnostic and replacement along with utility measures such as aerators, low-flow shower heads, pipe wrap, carbon monoxide detectors, and smoke detectors. Some minor repair is allowable for health and safety reasons.

Blue Valley Community Action Partnership - Fillmore County

Greater Family Health - DeKalb

Additionally, the city government oversees the office of the city clerk, which is responsible for maintaining records of city activities and transactions, preparing and publishing official notices, maintaining the city code, coordinating and preparing agendas for city council meetings, and recording meeting minutes.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley

Mentors model appropriate behavior, provide guidance and skill building, and offer an opportunity to motivate their mentee through interest exploration and social interaction.

Community-based mentoring matches a child with an adult volunteer in a community-based relationship.

School-based mentoring is incorporated into the school structure and meets during lunch/recess at the child's school. School-based matches are able to participate in BBBS sponsored and other community activities, but are not required to do so.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley provides age appropriate activity enhancements through our community partners that help grow the relationship and strengthen the development of the child. Enhancements involving elementary children and their mentors explore literacy, community service, health and wellness, financial literacy, and STEAM. Enhancements involving middle and high school youth and their mentors explore careers, post-secondary education, financial literacy, leadership, social and mental health, and community service.

Department of Human Services (DHS) - DeKalb County

Provides free or low-cost health coverage to people with low incomes, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

DHS administers the applications for Medicaid through ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility), which is the part of the DHS website where Illinois residents can apply for Medicaid, SNAP, and cash benefits.

Center For Active Seniors, Inc. (CASI)

Adult day program that provides supportive services in a home-like environment for individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities that are unable to stay at home alone. The program is designed for those with the beginning to mild stages of Alzheimers, or another form of dementia, and allows participants to be independent with daytime adult supervision, while socializing with others and participating in therapeutic activities. There is a daily cost for the program and transportation is not included.

Iowa Legal Aid - Waterloo

Free legal assistance with civil legal problems involving basic necessities for low-income individuals in all 99 Iowa counties.  Assistance ranges from providing counsel and advice to representation before various agencies and courts. Community legal education presentations offered, as well as over 20 printed booklets on various legal topics; a wide variety of legal education materials are also available on the website. Legal services are provided in all civil legal areas, including: Consumer/Finance – debt collection, repossession, garnishment, contracts/warranties, predatory lending, and public utilities (including utility disconnection or shut off notices). Education – expulsion/suspension, special education, learning disabilities, school fees, access, vocational education, and student financial aid. Employment - employment discrimination, wage claims, earned income tax credit, and taxes.  Family – adoption, custody, visitation, guardianship, domestic abuse, human trafficking and exploitation, family violence (child abuse, elder abuse, battered women/men), including assistance with restraining orders, and child support. Health – Medicaid, Medicare, government children’s health insurance programs, long term health care facilities, nursing homes, supplemental medical insurance, and hospital care. Housing – federally subsidized housing, homeownership, real property, landlord/tenant, public housing, mobile homes, housing discrimination, foreclosures, forfeitures, and mortgage predatory lending practices. Benefit Programs – ADFC/FIP, Social Security, food stamps, Social Security Disability (SSD), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), unemployment compensation, veterans benefits, FEMA, government benefits, and utility assistance applications. Individual Rights – mental health, disability rights, civil rights, human trafficking, AIDS/HIV issues, assistive devices, and institutional confinement. End of Life Planning – wills, living wills, advance directives, and power of attorney. Drivers License. Advocacy and legal assistance for people with disabilities, people with Alzheimer’s disease, people with brain injury, people with mental illness, children, migrants, and veterans.
