Winnebago County Housing Authority
Provides a Housing Choice Voucher Programs. The rules and regulations for the Housing Choice Voucher Program are determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The purpose of the Housing Choice Voucher Program is to provide rental assistance to eligible low-income families.
HUD determines the amount of funding that is available for rental assistance in each community. It is important to ensure that the funds are used to assist only those families who are eligible. The reason Housing Authorities have waiting lists is that there is not enough funding to assist all of the families who apply.

Offers affordable loans to individuals with disabilities and seniors to help acquisition of assistive technology, home repairs relating to health and safety (not home improvements to increase the value of the home), service animals, and employment tools. Also offers if qualified a forgivable loan for assistive technology. Offer a sliding scale interest rate ranging from 9-0% based on eligibility.
Most loans have flexible terms, up to 5 years. Most loans are capped at $2,500. Assistive technology loans may go up to $10,000, but there may be a waitlist for loans over $2,500.

Works with families to get them enrolled in the 1st Five Healthy Mental Development Initiative. 1st Five program builds partnerships between physician practices and public service providers to enhance high-quality well-child care. 1st Five promotes the use of developmental tools that support healthy mental development for young children during the first five years. By using a tool for all children that includes social-emotional development and family risk factors, providers are able to identify children at risk for developmental concerns that, if left untreated, would play out later in life.
