Offers Single Family Housing Programs. These programs provide home ownership opportunities to low- and moderate-income rural Americans through several loan, grant, and loan guarantee programs. Also makes funding available to individuals to finance vital improvements necessary to make their homes decent, safe, and sanitary.

Advises and aids veterans and their dependents in applying for federal benefits and burial benefits through compensation or pension claims. Emergency financial assistance for basic necessities such as rent or mortgage interest payments, utilities and food may be available for Veterans and their dependents. Can also assists with applications for benefits made available by federal, state or local laws.

Provides supportive services to victims of domestic violence, their children, and companion animals. Services for adults and children include emergency shelter (pet friendly based on availability), counseling, support groups, housing advocacy, legal advocacy (obtaining orders of protection), medical advocacy, children's services, and a 24-hr crisis hotline.

Offers Ages and Stages Questionnaire screening for families with children under age three, to help parents understand how their child is developing and whether there are any concerns. Social workers can provide support and additional recommendations if needed.

Provides energy efficiency services without cost to homeowners or renters who meet guidelines. Installation of work measurers are determined and measured by a computerized energy audit. Work includes sealing air infiltration leaks, high-density insulation, health and safety check, heating system repair or replacement, water heaters repair or replacement. Some minor repair is allowable for health and safety reasons.

Provides autism screenings and help find diagnostic services. Teams help Iowa families navigate local supports and services for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and provide family-to-family support. 

Provides food to those in need. Food is provided to anyone in the area, even if they are not a resident of Mahaska County.

Provides transportation for seniors ages 65 and older who are unable or do not want to drive any longer. Transportation is provided in Dubuque, East Dubuque, and Asbury only. All rides are provided by volunteers who use their own personal vehicles. All rides are one person at a time, door to door. Free or reduce cost rides may be available for members who receive any sort of public assistance. 

Aquatic programs are offered at nearly all area pools that offer instructional programs; the Red Cross serves as a coordinator and can provide information about which programs are available at each pool; programs include: Learn to Swim, Infant and Preschool Aquatic Programs, Lifeguard Training, and Water Safety Instructor.

Provides connections for caregivers to the many resources available such as planning assistance, referrals, training, respite care, support groups, counseling, and emotional support.

Provides services to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children to age five years. Services include: Nutrition education, Food assistance, Breastfeeding education and support, Health/nutrition screenings, and Referrals to medical, social and community services.

Provides library services. Items that may be borrowed from or used in the library include books, audio tapes, large print books and other materials. Offers eBooks and audio books for download to digital media. The library also offers Children's Story Hour and various adult programming. Computer access, 24/7 Wifi, printing, faxing, and study spaces are also available to patrons.

Programming is offered for preschool through transition aged. Users of American Sign Language, spoken English or both are served. Transition-to-work-or-college program has 85% of students continuing working 5 years after exit. Sign language classes for distance students, numerous free social activities and extended learning programming.
