Tax return preparation and electronic filing by IRS-certified volunteers. Customers pick up the tax packets and fill them out at home then return them so that tax preparers can complete them. Appointments are set towards the end of the process so the customer can sign-off on their returns. Once returns are signed, they can be electronically filed.

Care Managers work individually with older adults and their family members to help them remain independent in the setting of their choice for as long as possible.

Helps those who need assistance with rent, utilities, and clothing. Funds are intended for dire need situations and when no other community resource is available to meet the need. All financial help is by Appointment only. ***Call the 4th Tue of the month to set up an appointment.

Rent Assistance: must have Letter of Decision from General Assistance, cannot reside in a transition housing program, cannot have received financial assistance from IMPACT in the last 12 months, cannot have received material assistance from The Salvation Army in the last 12 months. Clothing Help: assistance will be in the form of vouchers for either work/interview clothing, back to school clothing, or clothing in general for someone who is homeless. Utility Financial Assistance: must have a disconnect notice to get financial assistance for a utility bill, cannot have received financial assistance from IMPACT in the last 12 months, cannot have received material assistance from The Salvation Army in the last 12 months.

Provides nutritious congregate meals for individuals 60 and older and their spouses.

Offers a free and confidential crisis line for veterans. Can also help with local suicide prevention coordinators, who can connect veterans to ongoing counseling and services in their area.

Provides assistance to victims of violent crime and/or trauma. Provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and referrals.

Offers free legal advice to the victims of the April 26 and May 21, 2024 severe storms who are experiencing legal problems due to the storms. Legal problems may include issues such as: FEMA denials, problems with insurance, landlord/tenant issues, unemployment benefits or denials, employment issues, contractor issues and identity theft. After calling 1-866-761-4692, callers will be connected to the Hotline voicemail. Callers should leave their name, phone number, brief description of their legal problem, and whether the issue is urgent. Callers will receive a call back from an experienced Iowa Legal Aid staff member to go through a screening. Callers who meet Iowa Legal Aid’s guidelines will be connected with an Iowa Legal Aid attorney.

Provides a food pantry which clients may visit weekly.

Provides a thrift store that sells donated, gently used products. Clothing vouchers available for children in need and adults in need of clothing for job interview.

Offers to assist households with window air conditioners (renters or homeowners) and also do some repairs to central air conditioners (homeowners). Must meet income guidelines for the program and have an application completed. Must have a medical need to be eligible for the program. Program runs May through September.

Emergency 24 hour temporary shelter, operating during winter months (November 1st through April 30th) annually. Food is provided.

Offers a temporary emergency shelter for people who do not have a warm place to stay out of the cold and winter weather.

Offers recovery home and halfway house options for sober living that help teens, young adults, and adults ease the transition from treatment to everyday life. The program begins with the development of an individualized recovery plan, followed by daily support from a specialized team. Daily schedule and activity accountability and 12-Step meetings add an additional layer of support as clients embrace skills such as:

- Creating a healthy routine;

- Practicing positive coping skills;

- Writing a resume/interview preparation/career coaching;

- Managing personal finances, and more.

Benefits include a structured environment and peer support. Also offers connections to individual and group therapy, as well as life skills training and other educational programs.

Operates a 24 hour crisis hotline, maintained by master's level therapists, available to those impacted by sexual assault.

Medical advocacy crisis intervention services are also available 24 hours. Trained medical advocates respond to hospital ER staff in order to provide support to those in need.

Provides general counseling services, including psychiatry and telehealth.

Offers sexual health and wellness services including free pregnancy tests, STD/STI testing, HIV testing and treatment (PrEP/PEP), Case Management, anal Pap Smears, free condoms, outreach and prevention education, and more.
