Temporary financial assistance may be available for rent or mortgage, utilities/propane, gas, and food.

CBRS staff are committed to helping individuals who desire increased satisfaction in life areas including home, work, school and relationships. Services provided: First Episode Recovery Support Team (FERST), Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT), Supported Community Living (SCL), Community Support Services (CSS).

Offers family programming for parents of children age(s) 0-5 twice a week. Parents are welcome to bring their children and drop them off in our child care room, while they either take a break in the parent room, attend one of our guest speakers, or chat with our parent educators or other parents about child development. A nightly parenting class is also offered during the fall and spring that meets DHS requirements.

Tax preparation for low income individuals/families and senior citizens (60 and over). Family Service Coordinators are trained to help prepare tax forms and/or answer tax questions. All offices are equipped to e-file, and coordinators also assist with Homestead Exemption preparation. No self-employed or farm returns are prepared.

For the 2024 tax season, clients must contact their local office for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Provides diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders and osteoporosis. Offers a comprehensive assessment of patients with memory problems, providing a firm diagnosis, effective interventions, and supportive services.

Offers a place to complete digital projects for free. Shoot and edit video using a green screen, convert old home videos to DVDs, color-correct family photos, and more. Items available for use include a Laser Engraver, Video Editing Station, Video/Photography Station, Sewing Macine, Media Conversion Station and an Adobe Creation Station.

Offers a weight management program to veterans. Program provides weight-loss support groups to assist in weight loss, healthy eating tips and cooking classes, behavioral change strategies to assist in living a healthier lifestyle.

Assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Assistance is based on household income, size, type of fuel and type of housing. The application period is from October 1-April 30 for elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30th for the rest of the households. Persons applying must meet 200% poverty guidelines. LIHEAP also offers a crisis program that may be able to assist homeowners who are with no heat or limited heat. The furnace component for crisis runs October 1-April 30th. May be able to help with repairs on a furnace but cannot replace the furnace. Keep checking back on the furnace program as it is dependent on funding that changes frequently.

Offers one time financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing a crisis that has caused a homeless or near homeless situation. Stability assistance can be used for past due rent, past due utilities, or propane (depending on county). Assistance is available sporadically and only when funding is available.

Helps prepare the general public, JDCHD staff, volunteers and clients, and community partners for public health emergencies.

Offers visitation program for low-income families providing free services in partnership with their FaDSS Family Development Specialist who works with the whole family to address their basic needs, improve child well being, and develop career opportunities.

Oversees two rural drop off sites:

- Scott County Park - Half mile east of the main park entrance on 270th Street

- West Lake Park - Gate 2 on 110th Avenue

Residents may recycle newspaper, cardboard, boxboard, mail, glass, aluminum, plastic, and magazines.
