Skip-a-Long Childhood Center - Milan

Intensive, research-based child development and family support services for families with children from birth to age three, with an aim of building a strong early learning foundation and preparing children for later school success.

SAL Community Services’ Prevention Initiative program offers early, continuous child development and family support services in Rock Island County.

The comprehensive year-round program is for families with children currently enrolled in SAL’s early childhood programs, including Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers and select licensed homes within our Home Child Care Network. It is also available to new families in the community who are interested in establishing a strong early learning foundation for their children.

Blair Family YMCA

All locations offer a wellness floor with cardio and weight equipment and wellness staff to assist. Most locations offer a range of group-exercise classes (high intensity, challenging, low impact, chair-assisted, fall prevention), active older adult and youth programs, open swim and lap times, swim lessons (including adaptive and adult), open gymnasium hours, pickleball, child watch, youth sports, and summer day camp.

Other programs and features vary by location (See notes below and visit website for more details and hours):

- The Buena Vista YMCA Express is a co-op project in conjunction with Omaha Public Schools, located on the Buena Vista High School campus. It includes a unique wellness floor featuring eGYM and MX4 equipment. This location is a wellness-only 14+ facility.

- The Westview YMCA offers youth sports and sports camps, a splash pad, and it is attached to Omaha Public School’s Westview High School. Visit other locations to learn more about summer day camp opportunities.

- The YMCA Healthy Living Center is an adult-only location designed for individuals 30+, with a therapeutic warm-water pool and a wider variety of low impact classes and equipment as well as social clubs and activities geared toward active older adults.

- The Charles E. Lakin YMCA offers eSports.

- The Butler-Gast YMCA and Downtown YMCA locations accept registrations for youth sports and host practices and games in collaboration with the Maple Street YMCA.

- The Gretna Crossing YMCA has eGYM equipment and a splash pad. It is part of the Gretna Crossing Park that offers trails, disc golf course, and a water park.

- The Blair Family YMCA offers a fitness center, pool, and many activities for youth and adults regardless of ability to pay.

YSS - Family Counseling Clinic

Provides counseling and therapy services, including evaluation, assessment, and diagnosis for children and families experiencing behavioral and mental health issues.

Services include specialized support for runaway and homeless youth, offering emotional guidance and assistance in resolving underlying issues. Therapeutic interventions include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma recovery and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address thoughts and cognitions as behaviors. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is provided for juvenile offenders as an alternative to residential treatment, focusing on improving family relations, peer associations, and school performance.

The program also offers Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), which uses real-time coaching to help parents manage childhood aggression and defiance while strengthening the parent-child relationship. Additionally, play therapy is utilized to help children express emotions and to assist in diagnosing the source of behavioral difficulties.

Program is designed to help families become self-sufficient. Provides a family specialist to work with families to identify situations that promote success, set goals for to reach self-sufficiency, also to identify tools and resources to overcome barriers. Working in partnership with a specialist, families learn how to make their own decisions and learn what resources they can utilize for help. This program works with community partners to help those in the program gain access to needed services.

Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy

Offers a variety of support groups for those experiencing different kinds of death loss. Each group serves as a resource for a specific type of loss.  Bereavement Coordinator offers resource information and referrals. Free grief counseling is available. Provides the programs Bereavement Luncheon, Mother Loss, Morning and Evening Comfort and Conversation, and a Younger Spouse Support Group.
