Offers, as resources allow, to help refugees and asylees reach economic self-sufficiency and to them with any problems, interests and concerns they may have. The Bureau of Refugee Services works to serve as a central clearinghouse in order to refer refugees and asylees to any resource necessary and available to them. The Bureau is the service agency for all refugees enrolled in FIP, the state welfare reform program. Now offering a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. This program will help participants prepare for the class, enroll into the DMACC CDL program at no cost, and obtain a job after completion. Participants will also qualify for “Jump Start” training specially designed to help English Language Learners.

Provides training and technical assistance to refugees who desire to start a business as licensed in-home child care providers.

Pregnancy testing and counseling. Obstetric ultrasound (limited) after positive pregnancy test.

Information and referral to social services and medical services.

Offers information of affordable housing for low-income migrant and farmworkers. Services include outreach and referrals for Illinois low-income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP), emergency overnight shelter for low-income farmworkers, referrals to Illinois agencies providing rent assistance services and housing foreclosure prevention counseling, housing information and education, rent smart, fair housing, tenant's rights, and coordination and housing advocates.

Oversees the election process, voter registration, maintains financial records for the county, maintains current real estate information and assessment maps.

Provides assistance to secure homes for hot and cold weather, making homes more energy efficient.

County law enforcement.

Offers roller skating and other various activities are offered all year long. Activities include open group, and family skates, dance, walking, floor hockey leagues, aerobics, craft shows, tot lot and more. The building is also available for private rental for wedding receptions, etc. There is also a game room and outdoor miniature golf course.

A free, in-school instruction program provided directly in the classroom by Independent Living Advocates, covering a wide range of important skills and topics young adults need to succeed on the "fast track" to independence. Staff instructs students in these 5 areas (and more):

- Introduction to Self-Advocacy.

- Job Exploration Counseling.

- Counseling on Post-Secondary Education.

- Workplace Readiness Training.

- Work-Based Learning Experiences.
