Omaha Home for Boys

Offers a number of behavioral health, mental health and substance abuse services that are both trauma focused and strengths based. Services offered place a high emphasis on education, practice, and development of new skills to help individuals achieve goals.

The Clinical Services Program expands beyond the Home’s youth to serve other youth and families in the community. Services open to the public:

- Evaluations – Available for individuals who have been court ordered to receive an initial diagnostic interview or for those who need evaluated for mental health, behavioral health or substance abuse treatment.

- Intensive Outpatient Program – A comprehensive, structured therapy program to help adolescents overcome substance abuse and mental health symptoms.

- Outpatient Program – A treatment plan focusing on increasing strengths and resources to help individuals overcome mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.

- Day Reporting – A comprehensive and strengths focused daily program for youth who are struggling in their current environment and are in need of additional structure and activity; located on Omaha Home for Boys campus.

- Family Support – A skill building program for families and youth that helps enhance family functioning in the home and overall functioning in the community.

- Intensive Family Preservation – Directed by a licensed therapist and experienced skill builder, this service offers therapy and skill building for families and youth.

Iowa Mission of Mercy

A two day, free dental clinic for any child or adult who cannot afford dental services. No appointments will be taken. Patients are seen on a first-come/first-served basis. The number of patients seen will be limited by our clinic capacity. Expect a long day. Child care is provided.

Patients may receive a variety of services from cleanings, root canals, extractions and fillings. There are also a limited number of partial dentures available on a first-come/first-served basis. The clinic does not provide wisdom teeth extractions, crowns, full dentures or implants. During the dental triage process, dentists will evaluate patients to prioritize the services they will receive.

Patients must maintain their place in line while waiting to enter the clinic and cannot be gone for a long period of time for any reason. Once inside the building and a patient wristband has been issued, patients are not allowed to leave the building for any reason or they will have to return to the end of the line and re-enter the building.

Offers a Healthy Baby Shower for expecting mothers, hosted by ISU Extension and Outreach in Polk County and Nutrition 4 Young Children. Healthy baby showers are available in English and Spanish. Learn about pregnancy and nutrition from an ISU Extension and Outreach health educator to give babies the best start possible. Participants will receive a backpack full of baby gifts after attending a virtual or in-person shower.  For more information or to register, contact staff. Fayette County Family Services - Oelwein

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) assists low-income homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. Also encourages households to make regular utility payments, to promote energy awareness and to encourage reduction of energy usage. All customers applying for this prgram will simultaneously be making an application for weatherization assistance as required by state law. Assistance is based on household income. size, type of fuel, and type of housing. Applications accepted October 1-April 30 for the elderly and disabled households and November 1-April 30 for the rest of the households.

Blue Valley Behavioral Health - Saunders County

Short-term outpatient mental health services for people experiencing mental health problems causing acute and/or moderate disruptions in the life of the individual or their family. The outpatient program serves youth, adults, the elderly, persons struggling with severe and persistent mental illness and persons recently discharged from inpatient mental health treatment. Services include planning for aftercare or referral as needed; individual, group and family therapy; and after-hours emergency, on-call access to therapists for crisis intervention.
