DODGE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (515-574-4700): A medium security men’s facility, emphasizing: academic and vocational education, psychological services and counseling, cognitive skills training, substance abuse program, reentry programs, anger management, parenting programs, family violence program, and MIFVPP IOWA CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR WOMEN, MITCHELLVILLE (515-725-5042): Serves as the reception and classification center for all females entering the adult institutional corrections system. A medium security women's facility emphasizing academic and vocational education, prison industries, psychological counseling, cognitive skill training, substance abuse programs, violence prevention, pre-release program, reentry programs, anger management and parenting programs IOWA MEDICAL & CLASSIFICATION CENTER, CORALVILLE (319-626-2391): IMCC serves as the reception and classification center for all males 18 years of age and older entering the adult institutional corrections system. After extensive testing and assessment of risk, health and cognitive skills, they are then processed on to other facilities. A medium security general population unit is in operation at IMCC, as well as, a special needs unit with both medical and mental health beds. IMCC also runs the only licensed forensic psychiatric hospital in the state, providing inpatient psychiatric and evaluation service to non-adjudicated patients IOWA STATE PENITENTIARY, FT. Two-year program where individuals who have a history of serious mental illness interact with practitioners and peers in individual and group settings as they work toward their mental health recovery goals.

Individuals are required to participate in the program eight hours each week.

Must participate in one group in-person session each week. Individuals participating in the program must live within driving distance of the center, to effectively participate in the program.

Offers a course on becoming a master gardener. Program is centered around research-based horticulture and gardening knowledge and practices to educate people and coordinate projects that promote healthy communities. Register for the core course as a Pro-Hort trainee if you are not interested in volunteering. Master Gardener Program is looking for volunteers who can make a commitment to the program – 40 volunteer hours and 40 education hours in the first two years. Then 20 volunteer hours and 10 education hours after the Master Gardener training.
