Montgomery County Outreach Office

Provides financial help with heating and electric bills. Applications are accepted starting October 1st through August 15th or when funding is exhausted.

October is a priority period reserved for elderly, disabled, families with children 5 and under, and disconnected households. The general population can apply starting November 1st.

This program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs. The amount of the benefit is based on number in the household, the 30-day income of the household and the source of heat. This is a one-time payment to the household's energy provider.

IowaWORKS Center - Mason City

Works to help individuals, including those facing significant employment barriers, secure and retain high-quality jobs. The program assists people in finding employment, funds training when needed to gain or retain a position, and provides assistance in obtaining work permits or official documentation required for work authorization.

The Adult Program serves people who are at least 18 years old and, if applicable, registered for Selective Service. The Dislocated Worker Program serves individuals registered for Selective Service who have lost their jobs and meet dislocated worker categories defined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

The Youth Program serves in-school youth (ages 14-21) and out-of-school youth (ages 16-24) who need assistance with training or education to enter the workforce successfully, with a focus on young people facing barriers to success. This includes government-subsidized summer employment programs that provide job opportunities in the public and private sectors during the summer months. Registration for these summer opportunities occurs during a spring application period.

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) provides supplemental help for the winter heating bills November 1st through April 30th: LIHEAP Crisis Assistance when funding available provides in a life-threatening situation fuel, heaters, furnace repair; furnace replacement for homeowners when funds available. Applications are accepted October 1-April 30 for elderly or disabled households and November 1-April 30 for all other households. May have some crisis funding available outside the normal LIHEAP months, call local County Outreach Office for availability of funding.

Mid-Sioux Opportunity Outreach Office - Sioux County

Provides energy efficiency services without cost to homeowners or renters who meet guidelines. Installation of work measurers are determined and measured by a computerized energy audit. Work includes sealing air infiltration leaks, high-density insulation, health and safety check, heating system repair or replacement, water heaters repair or replacement. Some minor repair is allowable for health and safety reasons.

Teen and Young Adult Health Center - South Omaha

Teen clinics provide sports and school physicals, chronic disease management, smoking cessation, and wellness and sick care. Both teen clinics focus special attention on reproductive health.

The teen clinics offer education about pregnancy prevention and birth control options including long-acting reversible contraception as well as screening, treatment and management for sexually transmitted diseases.

Medical clinicians discuss risky behaviors and provide confidential counseling. The teen clinics also offer education and counseling about topics including youth’s exposure to violence, injuries and accidents; sexual orientation; eating disorders; and bullying, social media and technology use.
