Provides community service sentencing (Polk County Court House, Room B40, 500 Mulberry Street, Des Moines). Offenders provide unpaid service/work to the community as a condition of probation or as part of a determinate court sentence. 

Offers a 24-hour crisis hotline providing access to a therapist for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The therapist will talk with the person, evaluate the need for further and/or immediate services, and work to get services set up with the individual if needed.

Tax preparation for low and moderate income taxpayers of all ages, with special attention to people 60 and older during tax season (Feb 1-April 15).

Offers a program for parents and youth individuals ages 10-14 to work together and build relationships. Participants will practice skills, play learning games, and do family projects in highly interactive sessions. Sessions are designed to increase family bonding, build positive communication skills, and solve problems together. 

Provides abuse and crisis intervention services to those going through a domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or sex trafficking situation. Services include a family violence crisis line, counseling or counseling referrals for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault, emergency shelter and transportation, peer support groups, and child advocacy.

Protection order assistance, criminal justice/legal advocacy, and medical advocacy are also available to those who may need it.

Works to build awareness of abuse by partnering with local agencies to offer community education programs and a resource library.

Mental health and substance abuse counseling for all ages.  Also offers marriage and relationships counseling.

Offers support provided by Peer Support Specialists who have “lived experience”. These specialists support the individuals served by modeling competency in recovery and coping skills. All Peer Support Specialists have worked on their own recovery and can share those experiences.

Offers a Parkinson's prevention program for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Services include screening and evaluations from instructors, fitness classes, hand/eye coordination, fall prevention and strength. The instructors may also provide resources, information, or offer social events and support for those diagnosed with Parkinson's and their care partners. 

Provides case management services to individuals managing issues related to epilepsy. Assists clients in gaining knowledge and skills necessary to handle common challenges such as medication compliance, access to public benefits, difficulties with the school system, and employee discrimination.

Youth services provides courses on topics including first aid for children, disaster preparedness, water safety, and babysitting for children. Also offers youth volunteer opportunities and service learning projects for middle and high school students.
