Safe Families for Children - Champaign

Provides temporary homes for children of families in crisis. Services allow parents an opportunity to resolve a temporary crisis while reducing risk of abuse, neglect, and isolation for children. Connects families with a family friend, who offers a healthy relational support as the family navigates the situation. Also connects the family with a family coach, who can provide linkage to services in the community and set goals to reach a place of stability.

DCFS - Springfield - 6th Street

Offers "Norman Services" to support families with children at risk of being placed in DCFS care or unable to return home due to unmet basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, or other essential items. These services aim to prevent child removal or facilitate reunification by addressing critical living circumstances.

Eligible families may receive assistance through Public Aid/TANF and other cash grants, the Housing Advocacy Program (HAP) to secure permanent housing, and the Emergency Cash Assistance Program for immediate basic needs.

Additionally, the services include support for guardianship-related matters, providing guidance and resources for individuals navigating the appointment or opposition of guardianship arrangements for children or adolescents.

Dundy County Veterans Services Office

County level services provide direct emergency economic aid for vital necessities to veterans, their widow, and dependents, according to their needs. Personal visits for assistance and claims to housebound veterans or dependents. Must have an honorable or under honorable conditions discharge from active duty or wartime service. Must be a resident in Nebraska for the past one year and 6 months of that year in Dundy County. State level services do not require wartime service. Assist in completing applications for the Nebraska Veterans Aid Fund; fee exempt fishing and hunting permits; applications to the Nebraska Veterans Homes; waivers of tuition. Federal level services provide and/or complete Veteran Administration forms for claims relating but not limited to service connected compensation, disability pension, widow's pension, burial allowance, grave markers/headstones, educational benefits, home loans, insurance, indebtedness, and character of service upgrades.
